I’ve hated my Blackberry Pearl for some time now. I guess two years is just too long to keep a smartphone. Since I can’t really get an iPhone - AT&T’s service sucks here in Denver, the word of Android phones being released got me pretty hyped, especially as a developer.
Verizon released the Droid today and the stores were opening at 7 AM. By golly I was gonna get one no matter what! In order to avoid the masses I decided to get there 90 minutes ahead of time. Well it actually ended up being 5:15 am. What a chump I was! Employees arrived at 6 AM and the first other customer arrived at about 6:30 AM.
At about ten before seven the first person wandered up to the door which led to a small crowd of about six. The Verizon guy came out and started taking names. Everyone was really cool and let me go first since I arrived first and so on through the arrival sequence. By 7:20 AM I was out the door with my new Droid. YAY!
So far it seems really nice. The physical keyboard is a little odd as the reviews said but we’ll see how it goes. I don’t have time to play right now since a work deadline is looming.
I recently ceased posting on darbymedia.com and had planned to move to brentbonet.com. I wanted to try something other than WordPress and after looking at several CMS solutions I decided on Joomla. Got it installed but really, I didn’t want to take the time to learn it so the site just sat there. I guess it’s more important to get my thoughts out there so I’ve decided to try Tumblr. This is the first post!
